Professional Competency Standards and Industry-Academia Research

• Professional Competency Standards: In response to the semiconductor industry’s demand for professional capabilities in key positions, since 2008 we have been developing and updating a set of Semiconductor Professional Competency Standards each year based on industry trends. More recently, to address the industry’s expansion into emerging application areas, we have created a cross‑functional training course roadmap. This roadmap defines, for each critical role, the entry‑level proficiency, job responsibilities, required technologies, performance indicators, necessary competencies, and so on.

• Aptitude‑Based Competency Performance: To identify high‑performing engineers in the IC industry, over the past decade we have established an IC‑industry norm dataset and developed an effective competency‑level assessment tool. We partnered with more than 20 semiconductor companies to conduct online assessments via our aptitude‑testing platform, enabling organizations to quickly obtain results that pinpoint the specific competencies driving high on‑the‑job performance. In addition, our professional consultants visit client sites to present the research findings and design customized training plans, helping companies systematically strengthen their workforce’s soft skills—such as proactivity and teamwork—that correlate with high performance.

• Participants include ASE (Advanced Semiconductor Engineering), HuaTai, SPIL (Siliconware Precision Industries), Kingpak, and Nuvoton, among others. To date, we have collected over 5,000 assessment records, and many companies already leverage our research outcomes in their talent acquisition and annual training strategies.

• Industry‑Academia Linkage Research: For engineering‑level roles, we analyze gaps between academic curricula and industry needs, then bring in industry experts as instructors to deliver targeted “bridging” courses. By aggregating historical online‑training data, we have built an Intelligent Electronics Industry Course & Instructor Database, which now comprises 550 entries across IC application, design, manufacturing, packaging, and other specialized domains.
