National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU)
National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University was created in 2021 through the merger of two universities: National Yang-Ming University and National Chiao Tung University.
Yang Ming, which focused on biomedical research, and Chiao Tung, which focused on electronic communication research, were both top-tier universities in Taiwan. At present, there are 19 colleges and 74 university/college-level research centers. Faculties include artificial intelligence, biological science and technology, biomedical science and engineering, computer science, dentistry, electrical and computer engineering, Hakka studies, humanities, and social sciences, law, life sciences, management, medicine, nursing, and pharmaceutical sciences, photonics, and general education.
NYCU’s teaching mission will promote the development of a common language for disseminating cutting-edge information via in-depth communication between medical experts and offer doctor-engineer courses oriented towards resolving the needs of individuals and society. The newly-merged educational institute will also consider privacy protection, assist with revising the relevant medical-related laws and regulations and study the impact of tangential yet still important issues affecting society, including ethics, economics, and the labor market. Furthermore, NYCU will formulate smart medical protocols via the establishment of standardization, accuracy, acquisition, storage, and processing of medical big data, while integrating various management platforms to concurrently build up the compatibility of medical IT systems. This will create a world-class base for initiating a smart and healthy life to cement Taiwan as the new model for global smart medical care.

International College of Semiconductor Technology (ICST) at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) in Taiwan focuses on “Internationalization” and “Industrialization” to cultivate the top talents with the innovation and professionals for next-generation semiconductor technology and solid-state circuits. The research areas of ICST include semiconductor materials, solid-state electronic devices, system-in-package (SiP), IC design and heterogeneous system integration. The courses in ICST are taught in English. Additionally, ICST provides opportunities and grants for students to collaborate with semiconductor industry (TSMC, MediaTek, Delta, etc.) and international institutes (UC Berkeley, UCLA, IMEC, TIT, Tohoku U., etc.). Program Curriculum
